Okay, so I was going to do another "Other Peoples' Awesome Etsy Shops" but this chandelier caught my eye on flickr. It's made of pompoms! How awesome is that? It could only be better if it was made of sparkly pompoms! Speaking of which, if you know of an awesome crochet related etsy shop, you should email me.
No, this is so not my house. This is a book store down the street from me. One of the interesting things about living in a tourist town (I live in Salem, Massachusetts) is that I can look at pictures on Flickr and see what interests people about my town. The downside, of course, is that I spent the weekend driving around looking for somewhere to park. Not really. Actually, I got home Friday night and haven't left, at least by car.
October ends up being a really crazy month. Besides all of the Halloween insanity around here, it's also my busiest month with work obligations, so I've been spending a lot of time at my desk or at work functions, rather than at home crocheting. I also just bought a copy of Bioshock for the PS3, and I expect that to cut into my crocheting time, as well.
I've been looking through books and websites with archaic stitch instructions on them, and I think I've come up with something interesting...
This is inexpressibly cool.
I'm in the middle of a whole bunch of stuff, still. Between work & other stuff, I'm scrambling!
I was paging through a bunch of projects on Ravelry and saw this incredible knitted afghan by Laura Aylor. I was really drawn to it because I thought it was crocheted with the Wave Stitch (my big fave) and it uses Noro Kureyon yarn (if I'm going to buy nice nice yarn, I buy Noro). I'm thinking of working up a crocheted version of this. All in oranges, of course. :)
I was eliminated from Yarn Smackdown today. Darn. I made it all the way to Round 4, but was then defeated by my own stupidity--I was away from the computer at the time the pattern was released, and started late. Wintereclipse worked like mad and beat me. I couldn't believe it when I opened the package.
So, it's off to work on contract pieces. I'm attempting to design baby booties right now, which is entertaining, since I don't have a baby, nor access to a baby. However, I've disassembled a pair of baby booties I picked up at Target and am now cruising along. I understand things like fit, what I really needed was a couple of key measurements.
This guy to the left is from hollypopshop on etsy. I think he's pretty darn cool, as are most of her plushies. :)
